ABOUT MIDWEST COMPOST
For more than 16 years, Midwest Compost has been transforming yard waste into premium landscape materials while supporting contractors, homeowners, and municipalities across Chicagoland.
Built on hard work, environmental responsibility, and family leadership, our company continues to grow with the same commitment to quality and service that started it all.
THE BEGINNING
Midwest Compost was founded with a clear vision: to provide a responsible, fully permitted facility where yard waste could be properly managed, recycled, and transformed into valuable landscape products.
Before establishing the company, Charlie Murphy (Founder) spent more than 16 years in the waste management industry, where he recognized a growing need for a reliable and environmentally responsible destination for landscapers, contractors, municipalities, and waste haulers to dispose of organic material. With that vision, Midwest Compost was founded as an IEPA-permitted yard waste facility, built on the principles of environmental responsibility, operational integrity, and service to the community.
THE NEXT GENERATION
Shortly after the company was established, Patrick Murphy (Second Generation Leadership) joined the business, representing the second generation of leadership. With a forward-thinking mindset and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of the industry, Patrick helped guide Midwest Compost into a new phase of growth and modernization.
Under Patrick’s leadership, the company has expanded its capabilities, diversified its services, and strengthened its operational infrastructure to better serve customers across the region. His focus on innovation, efficiency, and long-term sustainability has helped position Midwest Compost as a trusted partner for contractors, municipalities, landscapers, and homeowners alike.
Our journey has always been rooted in hard work, environmental responsibility, and a commitment to serving our customers and communities with integrity.
As we continue to grow, we remain focused on delivering dependable materials, responsive service, and long-term value for contractors, homeowners, municipalities, and partners across Chicagoland.
